The Nike Air Max 1 continues to prepare for its 35th anniversary with a multi-color ensemble by Boston's Concepts, which appears to be influenced by the city's rock music tradition. The Nike Air Max 1 closed 2021 with four collaborative colorways courtesy of Amsterdam's Patta. The next sneakers, unlike the "Horus" release it co-created with Kyrie Irving and his sister Asia in May 2021, forego any Egyptian inspiration in favor of an unmistakably American design.
Rich purple and green panels with white paisley patterns; cow print dyed onto bovine fur; flower-covered profile swooshes; and other eye-catching detailing taken from the certain rock bands like Aerosmith, Boston, and Pixies who wore these designs while touring "Beantown" during the 1970s and 1980s.
The boutique's based in New England has it's name written on the tongue and spine of the Air Max, as well as on the guitar pick hangtag that comes with the shoe; updated sneaker boxes follow suit. Much of the sole section of the shoes is left in a neutral color scheme, allowing the upper to take center stage. While the Tarek Hassan-led label has yet to reveal any details regarding the Air Max 1's inspiration, the "/" inscribed on the toe box is almost certainly a hint.
