The Hype is Real: Travis Scott x Fragment Design x Air Jordan 1 Low OG

Nike LeBron 17 “Monstars”

The Monstars are coming! In 2021. If the long wait deflates your excitement for next year's Space Jam film, Lebron James got you, with Monster themed kicks to help you take what's yours of Looney tune themed kicks to help you fight the good fight.

If you've become an" old man" or woman since the first release of the iconic movie starring Michael Jordan, then the coolness of Nike's Lebron 17 silhouette will justify your seat at the opening weekend of Space Jam 2 while you watch a Looney Tunes team led by Lebron James play against cartoon antagonists. Props, if you have the Lebron 17" Monstars" or" Tune Squad" on your feet while crunching on your popcorn.

For fans, this is a serious business. The original movie had a lot of good things going for it in the 90s. Looney Tunes was still popular with kids as well as adults, and Michael Jordan still had game and an air of greatness around him. Even today, the movie remains a part of the 90s culture and fanfare.

Millennials may not understand the hype or appeal of the Lebron 17" Monstars" and" Tune Squad" colorways but will buy any Lebrons, of course. If you look at the poster for the original movie, Michael Jordan is right next to Bugs Bunny, with their names printed at the top. That's right, and Bugs Bunny gets top billing and stardom. It was the nineties folks.

Just a quick recap for newcomers. The story goes something like this. An intergalactic amusement park owner experiences frustrations as his business slows down.

He sends a gang called" Nerdlucks" to kidnap the Looney Tunes from the earth, and the cartoon animals challenge them to a game of basketball for their release as the Nerdlucks look scrawny. In modern terms, they were free.

The Nerdlucks do some research on the game, steal the abilities of prominent players like Charles Barkley and Patrick Ewing, and the" juice" causes the Nerdlucks to bulk up tremendously and become" Monstars," their team name.

Long story short, the Looney tunes recruit MJ, and at the last second of the game, he stretches his arm all across the court in Loony Tunes fashion and seals the game for them.

As a challenger to" The GOAT'S" legacy, Lebron will be lacing up as a savior, even though the story-line of Space Jam 2 hasn't been released yet. The whole savior thing is obvious. Lebron will have some guests stars in the form of Anthony Davis, Damien Lillard, Klay Thompson, and WNBA players to help promote the film.

If you're not a fan of the Lebron 17" Monstars" bad guy look and evil tones, Nike in heroic fashion will be releasing the Lebron 17" Tune Squad," featuring the low silhouette.

The white/red/blue colorway matches the logo and jerseys of the original movie, so it seems these colors will be recurring in Space Jam 2. There's actual Bugs Bunny looking fur sprouting from the red Swoosh on the laterals and behind. The inner sole has a galaxy illustration with the Toon Squad logo.

Beneath the tongue, in cartoony hand-writing, we read,"  What's up doc?" A phrase made famous by Bugs Bunny.

Yeah, I'd bet on the Monstars to take it, but of course, Hollywood and the NBA wouldn't have it that way. Lebron," The King,"  can't lose to intergalactic monstars even though his team is made up of cute, cuddly animals.

Lebron showed off these furry sneakers with some practice shots at the Pepsi Center before the Lakers' winning game against the Denver Nuggets.

If you're looking for something much more mature and menacing or want to hate on the Tune Squad come 2021, the Nike Lebron 17" Monstars" is available for All-Star Weekend as well, featuring the high-top silhouette and its components.

A heat-molded yarn upper (which is multicolored now for the Monstars theme), with a cushioning unit composed of the Air Max 720 and Zoom at the forefoot. The midsole shimmers purple with an iridescent" 0" on the lower part of the tongue and scaly texture on the upper part. The inner sole has a galaxy illustration with the" Space Jam" logo.

Lebron is expected to don these kicks during All-Star weekend.

If you're looking to get the bad Nike Lebron 17 Monstars or the good Nike Lebron 17 Tune Squad, or both, you can get them at Nike.com and select retailers at 225 USD. That's all, folks!
